Tranquility VS. Empowerment

Quotes for Class

To date, these are the quotes I have used for my classes.
I will hopefully post them in a more organized manner as time progresses :) . . . perhaps. . .

"Yoga is invigoration in relaxation. Freedom in routine. Confidence through self control. Energy within and energy without." - Ymber Delecto

"Your mind is your instrument. Learn to be its master and not its slave." - Unknown

"In every posture, the body, the mind, action and motion, as well as each breath of the physical, physiological, mental, and intellectual sheaths have to be evenly balanced." - B.K.S. Iyengar

"Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are." - Jason Crandell

"Yoga is about clearing away whatever is in us that prevents our living in the most full and whole way. With yoga, we become aware of how and where we are restricted - in body, mind, and heart - and how gradually to open and release these blockages. As these blockages are cleared, our energy is freed. We start to feel more harmonious, more at one with ourselves. Our lives begin to flow - or we begin to flow more in our lives." - Cybele Tomlinson

"The best and most beautiful times in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." - Helen Keller

"Failure isn't failure, if a lesson from it's learned." - Garth Brooks

"You cannot do yoga. Yoga is your natural state. What you can do are yoga exercises, which may reveal to you where you are resisting your natural state." - Sharon Gannon

"A photographer gets people to pose for him. A yoga instructor gets people to pose for themselves." - T. Guillemets

"Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." - Mahatma Gandhi

"The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." - Mark Twain

"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." - Einstein

"So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never know we have the key." - The Eagles

"Courage does not always soar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow." - Mary Anne Radmacher

"Only as high as I reach can I grow.
Only as far as I seek can I go.
Only as deep as I look can I see.
Only as much as I dream can I be." - Karen Ravn

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." - George Bernard Shaw

"We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails." - Dolly Parton

"Life is a delicate balance between letting things happen and making them happen." - ????

"The word yoga comes from Sanskrit, the language of ancient India. It means union, integration, or wholeness. It is an approach to health that promotes the harmonious collaboration of the human being's three components: body, mind, and spirit." - Stella Weller

"What yoga philosophy and the great Buddhist's teachings tell us is that solidity is the creation of the ordinary mind and that there never was anything permanent to begin with that we could hold on to. Life would be much easier and substantially less painful if we lived with the knowledge of impermanence as the only constant." - Donna Farhi

"We are a part of everything that is beneath us, above us, and around us. Our past is our present, our present is our future, and our future is seven generations past and present." - Haudenosaunee teaching

"To better the life of one, is to better the world." - A.S. Feinstein

"Nobody can bring you peace, but yourself." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity." - Carl Jung

"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." - Alan Cohen

"Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever more forward to become the person they are meant to be." - Anonymous

"Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured, and endure what cannot be cured." - B.K.S. Iyengar

"When I was five years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy.' They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life." - John Lennon

"Acceptance is not submission; it is acknowledgement of the facts of a situation, then deciding what you're going to do about it." - Kathleen Casey Theisen

"Ultimately, what does it matter if you master a headstand, scorpion, or hanumanasana (full split)? It is a great physical milestone for your ego, but it is through your journey into the full expression of the posture - your day to day practice, perseverance, and  (perhaps "failed") attempts - that teaches you the lessons you need to learn." - Erika Lucas

"Warrior pose battles inner weakness and wins focus. You see that there is no war within you. You're on your own side, and you are your own strength." - The Quote Garden

Winter/Spring 2012 Class Schedule

First Post

Yay! My first post. . . I'm still tinkering with all the features, etc. on here. I hope this blog will be useful and interesting to my friends, family and supporters as well as others who stumble upon my page. The first order of business is to post all my yoga quotes I've used in my classes thus far. . .what a task! I hope this post will also deepen my yoga practice and involvement with Reiki and Zumba. So, perhaps it will be equal parts therapeutic and informative. Enjoy! Remember to "like" my Facebook page also (follow this link to see my FB page: Zumba*Yoga*Reiki with Erika)!
